Job Description
The Department of Chemistry at East Carolina University seeks applications to fill a Teaching Instructor or Teaching Assistant Professor position beginning on August 14, 2017. This fixed-term faculty position is for the 2017-2018 academic year, with the possibility of subsequent appointments.
The Department of Chemistry has 27 research and teaching faculty; it offers BS, BA and MS degrees and a PhD through participation in the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program in the Biological Sciences (IDPBS).
While the primary duties of the position will be to teach four courses per semester or the equivalent, and excellence in teaching is expected, synergy with one or more key research, service, or educational missions of the department is also expected. Minimum Qualifications include a Master’s degree in Chemistry or closely related field, such as Biochemistry, or Chemical or Science Education, from an appropriately accredited institution.
Preferred Education and Experience Preferred qualifications for the position include: (a) a Ph.D. in Chemistry or closely related field, such as Biochemistry, or Chemical or Science Education, and (b) demonstrated excellence in teaching.
