Dear Colleagues,
In our previous studies, we investigated the evolution of undergraduates'
general chemistry knowledge structures by administering a Word Association
Test. Those results indicate that students' knowledge structures evolve
greatly as they learn more chemistry. However, the literature does not
clearly show what an acceptable knowledge structure is and what associations
between the topics should exist. In order to better evaluate students'
structures, we decided to administer the same test to experts in their
respective fields. Your participation in this study will help us obtain a
knowledge structure related to the general chemistry topics, allowing us to
compare the students' knowledge structure to that of experts.
Your participation is immeasurable for the success of the study and will
help us identify the areas where student and expert understanding differs in
the STEM fields. Please contact me if you are interested in taking this
survey.
Once you receive the link, you can fill out the survey anonymously or share
your contact information to be entered into a drawing for one of six $25
Amazon Gift Cards. Please also feel free to share the link with your
colleagues working in any STEM field. We are also interested in comparing
the structures of the different expert groups.
Thank you for your time, interest, and support for the advancement of STEM
education.
Best regards,
