Free Resource: The Laboratory Safety for Chemistry Students (LSCS) e-Textbook

The ACS Office of Safety Programs is excited to share a free resource that may be of interest to you. The Laboratory Safety for Chemistry Students (LSCS) e-Textbook is now available at no charge via the ACS Institute, as co-authors Dr. David Finster and Dr. Robert H. Hill, Jr. generously donated this third edition to the ACS.

The LSCS e-Textbook:

  • Is designed for flexible incorporation into an undergraduate chemistry curriculum, containing introductory, intermediate, and advanced material.
  • Contains eight chapters, 73 sections, and a customizable quiz at the end of each section. Quiz files that are compatible with a variety of different Learning Management Systems (LMSs) are available upon request.
  • Aligns with the ACS Guidelines for Bachelor's Degree Programs.
  • Can be accessed by all members of the chemical safety community—no ACS Membership required!

If you or a colleague have any questions about this e-Textbook, please reach out to Rachel Bocwinski (r_bocwinski@acs.org), Senior Safety Programs Specialist in the Office of Safety Programs.
