Graduate Research Opportunities in Chemistry Education with Prof. Jason Pearson

The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), under the guidance of Prof. Jason Pearson, invites applications for two positions in the graduate research program focusing on chemistry education. These roles are designed to integrate advanced educational technology into chemistry teaching and learning, with a special emphasis on artificial intelligence applications. This initiative is in collaboration with Stemble Learning, a startup dedicated to innovating digital assessments and laboratory simulations in chemistry.

Positions: Graduate Student Roles (MSc to PhD or Direct PhD) Location: University of Prince Edward Island, PEI, Canada

Opportunity Description:

The selected candidates will contribute to research projects aimed at enhancing chemistry education through the use of educational technology. This involves the development, implementation, and analysis of AI tools for improving student assessment and learning experiences in chemistry.

Participants will have the opportunity to work closely with Prof. Pearson and engage with the team at Stemble Learning. This collaboration is intended to provide a comprehensive educational and professional experience, merging academic research with practical application in educational technology.

Eligibility and Requirements:

  • Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Education, Computer Science, or a related field. Those with a Master’s degree in these or related areas are also encouraged to apply and may be eligible to start directly in the PhD program.

  • An interest in the intersection of chemistry and educational technology, particularly the application of AI in education.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential.
