The Department of Chemistry is seeking a full-time Lecturer to teach principally organic chemistry courses beginning Spring semester 2022. This is a non-tenure track nine-month academic year appointment with full benefits and holds the possibility of a one- or two-year initial appointment, depending on qualifications, and subsequent renewal. Responsibilities will include teaching multiple sections of organic chemistry laboratory classes, introductory organic chemistry lecture, managing Teaching Assistants, holding office hours, and associated responsibilities. Alternative teaching responsibilities may include introductory chemistry, general chemistry, or honors seminars. There are no assigned duties during the summer months, but there may be opportunities for summer teaching for additional salary. We seek an individual who has an innate interest in teaching and who can motivate students to learn through student-centered learning techniques. A Ph.D. or equivalent in chemistry, chemical education, or a related discipline and demonstrated strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate education; in recent years all appointees at a minimum have completed all of the requirements for the Ph.D. except the dissertation.
Preferred candidates will have demonstrated the ability to teach a variety of freshman- and sophomore-level large-enrollment chemistry courses (100 or more students).
