As Chair-Elect of AAAS Section Q (education), I would like to invite you to our upcoming Social and Business Meeting to be held on Monday from 6-8 pm EST on Zoom. If you are not registered for the meeting you can simply get a “Public Events Passport” which is free and will give you access to the Zoom links for social events and also for public lectures like Anthony Fauci’s Plenary (4-5 Feb 8)
Our Social event (6:00-7:00 PM EST on Zoom) will celebrate the breadth of educational influence of AAAS Section Q members. You’ll have the chance to meet our 16 new AAAS Fellows, as Section Q Officers and Steering Group members will introduce them and their accomplishments.
Immediately following this social event will be a second event, our annual business meeting, on Monday February 8 (7:00-8:00 PM EST). During the business meeting, we will recognize officers whose terms are ending and introduce candidates for the election which opens on Feb 8 for new Section Officers. We will introduce speakers and organizers of our AAAS 2021 sponsored symposia and workshops, discuss how to get a scientific session or workshop accepted for the AAAS 2022 meeting, explain the 2021 Fellows nomination cycle, and conduct an interactive Zoom chat to share ideas about notable products or events of interest to Section Q members including anything of relevance to the Education Section. All ideas are welcome!
To join these Education Section events, log in or register on the Annual Meeting site (https://virtual.aaas.org/). If you are not attending the scientific meeting, choose “Public Events Passport” for a free sign up. AAAS membership is not required.
To attend these events, registered participants can “Browse by Session Type” in the online Meeting Program to find the Education Section Social listed on Monday, February 8 at 6 pm under “Special Events”; you will be able to click on the link to join, or “Browse by Session Type” to find “Business Meetings” to join the “Education Section Business Meeting” listed on Monday, February 8 at 7 pm. Click to join. THe same Zoom link will work for both meetings.
We hope to see you! Also, please extend this invitation to others. We would like to get more people involved!
