The Department of Chemistry at Boston University invites applications for full-time teaching and research Postdoctoral Associate Teaching Scholar (PATS) openings starting as early as June 1, 2025 and no later than September 1, 2025. This innovative program, formerly the Postdoctoral Faculty Fellow (PFF) program, is designed for recent Ph.D. recipients planning to pursue teaching-focused academic careers. Initial appointments are full-time for one year, and are renewable based on satisfactory performance. The duties of the appointment are divided roughly equally between teaching and research. The teaching component will involve guided experiences in teaching undergraduate courses with opportunities to develop new curricula and implement innovative teaching methodologies. Research is conducted in affiliation with a faculty research group. Candidates with research interests in all areas of chemistry, including chemical education research (one position in this area specifically), are encouraged to apply. Additional information about the PATS program as well as descriptions of our academic programs and research interests of faculty may be found at www.bu.edu/chemistry.
Applicants should submit a letter of interest that includes teaching and research objectives, research group preferences, and a current CV, and arrange to have three letters of reference submitted as soon as possible. Review of applicants will begin immediately, and the applications will close on April 1, 2025. Please submit via https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/29703. Please direct email queries to straub@bu.edu.
BU conducts a background check on all final candidates for certain faculty and staff positions. The background check includes contacting the final candidate’s current and previous employer(s) to ask whether, in the last seven years, there has been a substantiated finding of misconduct violating that employer’s applicable sexual misconduct policies. To implement this process, the University requires a final candidate to complete and sign the form entitled “Authorization to Release Information” after execution of an offer letter.
