Postdoctoral Researcher Position at IU Indianapolis

The Chemistry Education Research team at IU Indianapolis led by Dr. Lyniesha Ward is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral research scholar at Indiana University Indianapolis. This scholar will conduct Discipline-Based Education Research (DBER) in one or more of the following areas of the (a) technology integration, and (b) reasoning in organic chemistry. The start date for the position is as early as Spring 2025. This in-person position is a one-year appointment with opportunity for renewal contingent upon performance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with PI and lab members which includes graduate and undergraduate students to develop research questions, designs, and methods for data collection and analysis.
  • Mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Contributing to the dissemination of research products for peer-reviewed publications, conferences, and workshops.
  • Participating in the grant writing process.
  • Collaborating with a team of other chemistry/STEM faculty and professionals in STEM education research.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Chemistry or Chemistry Education with experience and interest in doing discipline-based education research. A doctoral degree in Learning Sciences or Education will also be considered. Candidates who will complete their doctoral degree by May 2025 can apply.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with designing and completing an education research project that has led to publication(s)/conference presentation(s)/proceeding(s) in STEM education journals and conferences.
  • Prior experience designing, implementing, and interpreting quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods of social science/education research.
  • Ability to manage multiple research projects.
  • Experience in mentoring graduate and/or undergraduate students.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

 

The salary range is $50,000 – $53,000 and may vary based on experience. Indiana University offers benefits such as health care and retirement.
