The Department of Chemistry at East Carolina University seeks applications to ﬁll a position as a Teaching Instructor, Senior Teaching Instructor, Teaching Assistant Professor, or Teaching Associate Professor (as appropriate to experience and qualiﬁcations) beginning on August 15, 2022. This ﬁxed-term faculty position is for the 2022-2023 academic year, with the possibility of subsequent appointments.
ECU Chemistry is already an innovative department, utilizing the Argument Driven Inquiry instructional (ADI) model, and offering multiple sections of Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs); come help us get even better!
The faculty member’s primary duties will be teaching in the general chemistry and/or organic chemistry sequences. Reassigned time will be offered for the faculty member to coordinate the scheduling, assignment/training/supervision of graduate student instructors, assignment/training/supervision of undergraduate teaching assistants, and setup/delivery of over sixty lab courses per semester. Service expectations of this individual will be related to assessment and revision of laboratory curriculum in collaboration with the Undergraduate Program Committee.
The successful applicant will be someone who is collaborative and enjoys working in partnership with faculty, staff, and teaching assistants to deliver a high-quality educational experience to ECU students; safety-minded by ensuring all environmental health and laboratory regulations are carefully followed; conscientious by conserving chemicals and reagents to maximize budgetary resources; and a dedicated leader, providing mentorship and encouragement to all emerging scientists.
