Teaching&Research Post-Doctoral Fellowship OR Visiting Instructor Position- The Department of Chemistry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks candidates for a 1 to 2 year teaching position with concurrent bench-research opportunities. Responsibilities for any applicatant include lecturing in undergraduate organic chemistry, writing and grading organic exams and recitation worksheets, supervising teaching assistants, and conducting post-doctoral research with a sponsoring faculty mentor in the chemistry department. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in chemistry or biochemistry, an outstanding record of research, and a commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level.
Qualified applicants should send the following application materials: a letter indicating their research interests including the names of 1-3 UAB chemistry faculty with whom the applicant is interested in working with, a detailed curriculum vita, a summary of research accomplishments, a statement on their teaching experience and philosophy, and arrange to have a minimum of three letters of reference sent in support of their application. The anticipated start date is Fall, 2017, pending budgetary and administrative approval. The applicant will be offerred an initial appointment for one year, plus the possibility of renewal for the second year.
