The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Southwestern University seeks applicants for a two-year visiting assistant professor position with expertise in biochemistry to begin in August 2021. With mentoring, the successful candidate will teach lecture and laboratory courses in general chemistry and biochemistry and have the opportunity to learn and utilize new pedagogies that promote active learning.

This position is ideal for an applicant who plans to be a teacher-scholar at a primarily undergraduate institution. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Southwestern University is an American Chemical Society (ACS) certified program. The department maintains a vibrant undergraduate research program and is housed within Southwestern’s new multidisciplinary science center which contains state-of-the-art facilities for teaching and research. Southwestern University is a selective undergraduate institution committed to a broad-based liberal arts, sciences, and fine arts education. Southwestern enrolls approximately 1500 students and maintains a student/faculty ratio of 12 to 1. Qualifications

Applicants must have completed their Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical biology by the hire date will be considered. The candidate must be committed to excellence in teaching undergraduate students. Candidates who have a strong and demonstrated commitment to enhancing diversity in academia are also preferred.
