Greetings Chemistry Educators,
Please accept this invitation to an online discussion of ideas to improve student success in first-year, analytical, physical, and all other quantitative chemistry courses. On Monday, October 23, the ACS DivChEd Committee on Computers in Chemistry Education (CCCE) will begin our Fall ConfChem (online conference). This year’s theme is Improving Student Skills in the Mathematics of Chemistry In eight papers (2 per week for 4 weeks), instructors will describe their strategies, successes, and challenges in seeking to address student difficulties with the math that is central to chemistry problem-solving. Monday to Wednesday each week, readers may question the authors on their papers. Thursday to Sunday will be “general discussion days” where readers may originate comments and pose questions on issues related to the data and ideas in each paper. All eight papers are currently posted for reading at https://confchem.ccce.divched.org/2017FallConfChem . Anyone may read the papers, questions, and comments, but to submit questions and comments you will need to register. See the link above for registration instructions.
I hope you will join in this year’s online ConfChem.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Muzyka
