*Webinar: *Assessing Students’ Understanding Fri, Feb 19, 2021 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EST
How do we know what students know? This is especially interesting when using a context-based curriculum, such as Chemistry in Context (CiC), to teach introductory chemistry. Truthfully, we cannot know with certainty what students know–thank you, Werner Heisenberg! To adequately measure students’ understanding, it is important to use a suite of assessment items and related activities, and CiC offers this. Activities offered in the text itself, lab investigations, and ancillary resources through the McGraw-Hill Connect platform round out assessment opportunities. This webinar will be a facilitated discussion around the idea of measuring what students know when engaging with CiC and will encourage participants to explore and share goals of assessment around its best practices with the CiC program. The CiC program is a project of the American Chemical Society.
