Invitation to participate in frameworks study across DBER

Dear colleagues,

Dr. Angela Google and I are biology education researchers who are conducting a research study aimed at understanding your experience and perceptions of using theoretical frameworks in your discipline-based education research (DBER; chemistry education, biology education, engineering education, etc.).

To achieve this goal, we are asking individuals who identify as a DBER scholar or engage with DBER to 1) complete an anonymous ~10-minute survey. After completing the survey, you will have the option to also 2) participate in a ~60-minute interview where you will be asked to provide your name and your contact information (e.g., email address) for the purpose of setting up the interview and accurately linking your survey responses. Your name, contact information, and responses will be kept confidential. There is no direct benefit to you from taking part in this study. We hope that the research will shed light on experiences related to the use of frameworks across DBER.

We are offering each participant the chance to win a $50 gift card for completing the survey, and if selected for an interview study, a $50 gift card as a token of our appreciation.

If you are interested in participating, please complete this survey on framework use in DBER

If you have any questions or concerns about the research, you can contact one of us directly, Brie Tripp, PhD (btripp@ucdavis.edu) at University of California, Davis or Angela Google, PhD (angela.google@mtsu.edu) at Middle Tennessee University.

This research has been approved by the University of California, Davis and Middle Tennessee University’s Institutional Review Board.

Sincerely,
Brie Tripp
