Dear Colleagues,
I want to let you know that CIRCLE (at Washington University in St. Louis) and the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign are hosting a conference on Sept 6-7, 2018, entitled Conference at the Interface of Discipline-Based Education Research in STEM and Psychological Science. I hope you and some of your colleagues will join us for this event, which will feature invited and contributing presentations on innovative and cross-disciplinary STEM education research that exemplifies collaboration at the interface of psychological science and discipline-based education research (DBER).
Below (and attached) is the detailed invitation for the Conference, and attached is a flyer for distribution. We will begin considering applications for presentations, posters, and attendance on June 10, which is the tentative application deadline. Please note that there will be a registration fee of $125 for accepted applications. You can find more information and the application form at circle.wustl.edu/2018conference/.

Dear Colleagues,
The Center for Integrative Research on Cognition, Learning, and Education (CIRCLE) at Washington University in St. Louis is hosting the Conference at the Interface of Discipline-Based Education Research in STEM and Psychological Science on September 6-7, 2018. This conference will be the third meeting of its kind, building on the success of events held in September 2012 and 2014.
This conference will feature cutting-edge research on STEM education that exemplifies collaboration at the interface of psychological science and discipline-based education research (DBER). Speakers will include STEM scholars actively pursuing DBER in their fields, as well as psychological scientists with research focused on STEM teaching and learning. The format of the conference will include a blend of invited talks, with extended question-and-answer sessions; shorter research talks in parallel sessions, where attendees can present their STEM education research; and a poster session, to stimulate interdisciplinary conversation and collaboration. Our expectation is that this conference will provide a synthesis of the current state of knowledge at the intersection of psychological science and DBER, explore barriers to cross-disciplinary research collaborations, and generate action plans for advancing and promoting collaborative work.
Space is limited and we hope to achieve a balance of attending disciplines and institutions. We will begin considering applications for presentations, posters, and attendance on June 10. Please note that there will be a registration fee of $125 for accepted applications. Attached is a flyer for the conference; you can also find more information and the application form at circle.wustl.edu/2018conference/. Please post the attached flyer in your departments and share this information with any colleagues who might be interested in attending. If you have questions, please contact Angela Fink at circle@wustl.edu. We hope to see many of you in September!
Sincerely,
