Learning Assistant Program Director - Rutgers

Dear Members of the Chemistry Education Research Community,

The Learning Centers at Rutgers University is hiring a Director-level position that will oversee the Learning Assistant (LA) Program and interact with faculty across the New Brunswick campus.

LAs support active and collaborative learning in many STEM courses at Rutgers (e.g., organic chemistry, several physics courses, calculus courses, computer science courses, biochemistry, microbiology, and chemical, electrical, biomedical, and industrial engineering courses), therefore, candidates with an advanced degree in STEM education are strongly preferred (including CER) because this position will work directly with faculty members, most of whom are in STEM disciplines. Please see the full description below and link to the job posting.

The position will close on July 6, 2018.

Thank you for passing this along to those who might be interested.

Dear Colleagues,

The Learning Centers at Rutgers University – New Brunswick are seeking a Director of Integrated Academic Support to run our Learning Assistant (LA) Program and in-class support initiatives. The LA Program is part of the Learning Assistance Alliance and has grown tremendously over the past few years. The program currently is projected to serve about seventy courses, with 293 learning assistants in the coming year. If you are looking for a position that will enable you to work with both faculty and students on a regular basis, engage in research and implementation projects, and teach a 300-level course on pedagogy, this position would be a great opportunity for you. We are part of the Big 10 and have a very diverse student population. Our Learning Centers are centralized, serving over 56% of our undergraduate population this past academic year. We are growing and constantly evolving, so we’re looking for someone who can set direction for the program as it continues to grow, expand upon our current assessment methods, and continuously seek new campus partnerships.

You can find additional details about the position here: https://jobs.rutgers.edu/postings/67552.

Best wishes,

*Stacey Blackwell*
