The Department of Chemistry at West Virginia University (https://www.chemistry.wvu.edu/) seeks a postdoctoral fellow in chemical education. The successful candidate will help establish learning objectives for introductory chemistry laboratory courses; design and implement evidence-based laboratory curricula; help assess student learning; participate in TA training; provide oversight of laboratory sessions; serve as instructor of record for 2-4 chemistry courses each academic year; and disseminate work through lesson plans for internal use and scholarly publications.
The position requires a PhD or equivalent degree in Chemistry, Chemical Education, or a closely related field; demonstrated potential for excellent teaching; familiarity with pedagogical trends in laboratory learning and assessment techniques; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; and interest in advancing educational innovations to improve student persistence in STEM disciplines.
Preferred start date is January 1, 2019. The position may be renewed in annualized increments for up to two years, contingent upon performance and funding.
