Assistant Professor in Chemistry Education
The Department of Chemistry at UNT invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Chemistry Education, to begin August 2020. Applicants should have demonstrated expertise in Chemistry Education research and possess a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemistry Education, or a closely related field. Experience teaching chemistry at the college and/or secondary school level is strongly preferred. Postdoctoral experience is also preferred.
Research experience or interests related to online/hybrid instruction, virtual reality, and other digital learning technologies will create alignment with current university-wide priorities at UNT and will be viewed favorably.
The successful candidate is expected to play an important role in the planned revitalization of our Ph.D. program in Chemistry Education, while also engaging in externally funded research and contributing to the teaching mission of the UNT Chemistry Department. The new faculty member will have opportunities to interface with many established programs on campus that focus on aspects of science education, including the Teach North Texas (TNT) teacher training program, the NetDragon Digital Research Center, the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (a residential magnet high school for high achievers), and a vibrant group of TRIO programs that includes an Upward Bound center and a McNair Scholars program.

The UNT Chemistry Department is entering a growth phase, with plans to hire an endowed Welch Chair in Chemistry and up to 10 additional tenure-track faculty over the next five years. Our department has a strong culture of interdisciplinary collaboration, with specific strengths in computational chemistry, photochemistry, and materials chemistry.
