Dear GOB Colleagues:
Together with my colleagues Laura Frost, (Florida Gulf Coast University), Kalyn Owen (N. Seattle College), Ann Murkowski (N. Seattle College), and Lafayette Eaton (St John Fisher College) we are teaming up this summer to organize a GOB symposium for the 2020 BCCE.
At past BCCEs these sessions have been a wonderful place to interact with colleagues who are researching and teaching the students who take the GOB course. We don’t get many chances to engage with each other to discuss how we instruct this group of students. I encourage your submission and/or your attendance or perhaps you have a colleague that is interested. Please forward!

SYMPOSIUM DESCRIPTION
Trends in GOB Chemistry – Where are we now?
One of the requirements in many health professions programs is one or two semesters of chemistry as a General, Organic, and Biological (GOB) Chemistry course. Teaching the GOB chemistry course has its own set of challenges for students and instructors. However, these challenges are often turned into opportunities for novel ideas to be implemented and tested. This symposium will explore the development of the GOB curriculum, examine innovations in the curriculum, and explore multidisciplinary approaches that can be demonstrated to be successful. Presenters are encouraged to share their research, experiences, strategies, and successes with the course. This session will conclude with a discussion among the audience and the presenters to identify successful trends in teaching the GOB course.
The 2020 Biennial Conference on Chemical Education will be held at Oregon State University July 18-23, 2020. The Deadline for ABSTRACTS is Feb. 24!!
Enjoy your spring semester and I hope to see many of you in Corvalis.
Sincerely,
Corina Brown, Ph.D.
