The call for papers for BCCE 2022 has been extended to March 7, 2022.
We invite submissions for oral presentations and posters at the 27th Biennial Conference on Chemical Education (BCCE). The meeting will take place July 31-August 4, 2022 at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Details can be found on the meeting website at www.bcce2022.org/.
The conference will bring together chemical educators and researchers from K-12 and higher education to present their work, make connections, and learn from one another. The theme of this year’s conference is “New approaches to modern challenges,” and will highlight the ways chemical educators have responded to recent changes across diverse educational contexts through technical symposia, workshops, and poster sessions.
The complete list and descriptions of symposia are available on the meeting website at www.bcce2022.org/event-search. Symposia are organized around four themes:
- Classroom practice and learning environments
- Curriculum and cognition
- Assessment and research methods
- Professional development
Who May Submit?
College/university faculty and staff, K-12 teachers, graduate students, postdocs, and anyone else working in chemical education is welcome to submit an abstract for an oral presentation or poster. You may submit work conducted as an individual or in collaboration with others. When submitting, you will be asked to select whether you would prefer to present your work as an oral presentation or a poster. Submitting an abstract does not guarantee acceptance to the conference or to a particular symposium. Your abstract may be re-assigned to a different symposium or format depending on scheduling and fit.
What is the Format of Presentations?
Oral presentations are 20 minutes in length, including time for questions. At this time, all oral and poster presentations will be in person.
How Many and What Types of Presentations Can I Make at the BCCE?
The BCCE follows the “rule of two”. Thus, the maximum number of presentations you can make should reflect one of the following combinations:
- 2 papers
- 2 posters
- 2 workshops
- 1 paper and 1 poster
- 1 paper and 1 workshop
- 1 poster and 1 workshop
You can be a second (third, fourth, etc.) non-presenting co-author on as many abstract submissions as you wish.
What are the Requirements for a Submission?
- Title of the presentation
- Presenter and co-author name(s), institutional affiliations, and contact information
- Brief description (~250 words) of the work
- Select preferred presentation type (oral or poster)
- Select preferred symposium (for oral presentations only)
How Do I Submit?
Abstracts must be submitted through the MAPS system (https://bcce2022.abstractcentral.com/). You will need to create an ACS ID, if you do not have one already, though you do not need to be a current member of ACS to submit. MAPS will open on January 10, 2022. All presentation abstracts must be submitted by March 7, 2022.
