BCCE Abstracts: Discourse Frameworks in Active Learning Chemistry Classrooms

Dear colleagues,

This is a call for abstracts for the symposium Discourse Frameworks in Active Learning Chemistry Classrooms which will take place this summer at the 2020 Biennial Conference on Chemical Education (BCCE) at Oregon State University (Corvallis, Oregon) from July 18th-23rd. Abstracts must be submitted by February 24th, 2020 for full consideration (https://bcce2020.org/call-for-abstracts/). 

ACS Bridge Travel Awards for Graduate Students

Are you presenting at the ACS Spring National Meeting? For the 2020 application cycle only, the ACS Bridge Project is offering travel funds to graduate students presenting at the ACS National Meeting. The student award will defray travel and/or registration costs to the Spring National Meeting and Exposition. Each award will be for up to $2,500 of eligible expenses. The aim of this travel award is to advance the career and professional development of URM chemical science graduate students by helping to support the students' effort in presenting at the ACS National Meeting.

BCCE Symposium: Trends in GOB Chemistry – Where are we now?

CHIRAL project interview invitation

We would like to invite you to participate in an NSF (#1915424/#1914996/#1915343) funded CHemistry Instrument Review and Assessment Library (CHIRAL) project that will develop an assessment library that contains inventories commonly used in chemistry education research and the evidence that supports the validity and reliability of these instruments. Your participation will provide valuable insights for developing the desired features of CHIRAL website that will be beneficial to the chemistry education community.

ACS DivChed-CER Webinar in March

The ACS DivCHED-CER webinar planned for this coming March will feature Stacey Lowery-Bretz (CER) and Mike Klymkowsky (BER) having a conversation about and discussing strengths, limitations, and challenges of using concept inventories in research and practice. We would like their conversation and discussion to be guided by questions of interest to the community of chemistry and biology educators (researchers and practitioners). University of Utah - Postdoctoral Research Associate in Graduate Education Policy- Diversity and Inclusion

Dr. Ramón S. Barthelemy at the University of Utah seeks to hire a post-doctoral research associate specialized in diversity and inclusion research at the graduate level. The successful candidate will work as part of a team leading research on graduate education in physics and astronomy. This will include conducting a climate survey, interviews, policy analysis, and further ethnographic work at the University of Utah. This position is a one-year contract with an additional one-year renewal depending on performance. Further renewals will be dependent on performance and funding.

A research associate position is available in the Frey STEM Education Research group at the University of Utah in the Department of Chemistry.
