The Science of Failure

Hello fellow instructors, 

Our research team has developed a survey to capture undergraduate science students’ ideas about failure in science and failure in learning science. We spent the last year developing survey items through work in the literature and collecting data from students with these items. Our next step is to conduct a large-scale data collection effort to examine the functioning of our survey. We hope that you may be able and willing to help us recruit students from your undergraduate science courses.

UA Full Time Teaching Faculty

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (CBC) at the University of Arizona invites applications for a full-time Career Track Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice with expertise in teaching general and inorganic chemistry. Primary responsibilities include teaching in the general and inorganic chemistry lecture and laboratories. This is an academic year (9-month) position at 1.0 FTE starting in Fall 2026.

The Department of Chemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) invites applications for a non-tenure track position (renewable) at the Assistant Professor level in general chemistry to begin in August 2026. We seek applicants who are excited about teaching general chemistry to undergraduate students and are willing to participate in curriculum development focused on student-centered learning.
