Many will remember Dorothy Gabel, who was a staunch advocate for chemistry education, particularly in elementary schools. Dorothy died on October 30 after a long struggle with dementia. She retained her good spirits and friendly nature until the end. Dorothy was a Sinsinawa Dominican and spent her last years well cared for by the other sisters.
If you missed the ACS-CER Webinar on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in chemistry education on Tuesday 10/27 you can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fu1TX6zpqI&t=1492s. Everybody should watch it to understand why change in traditional chemistry education is sorely needed.

Hello CER community,
I received the email below from a lecturer at UMass. I’m not actively doing chem ed research, so I don’t have anything for this person to help with. But since they want to work on something remotely, it doesn’t need to be a chem ed researcher *at* UMass. Are any of you interested in having some free help from someone with interest but no background in chem ed research?
You could reply to them directly.
Best,
Gabriela Weaver (gweaver@umass.edu)
