Call for Institutional Proposals, CUR Transformations Project

The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) seeks preproposals from higher education institutions for an NSF-funded project to create research-based  undergraduate curricula in biology, chemistry, physics, and psychology. Twelve institutions and 24 departments will conduct fundamental research on student, faculty, departmental, and disciplinary influences on the process of integrating and scaffolding undergraduate research experiences throughout the curriculum.

Scott Freeman, Principal Lecturer in Biology at University of Washington-Seattle is leading a team conducting a meta-analysis of how innovations in undergraduate STEM courses have impacted traditional achievement gaps experienced by students who are 1) female, 2) members of underrepresented minorities (African-American, Hispanic, Native American, or Pacific Islander/Native Hawaiian), 3) from low-income backgrounds, and/or 4) first-in-family to complete college.

Full Time Chemistry Lecturer Position at the University of Washington Tacoma

The University of Washington -Tacoma is currently searching for a full-time chemistry lecturer. This is a full-time renewable position with an appointment term of one to five years and a nine-month service period. The position will begin on September 16, 2017 and will require a Master’s degree or higher, or foreign equivalent, in chemistry, chemical education, environmental science/engineering, chemical engineering or a related field.There are opportunities to teach research courses, including STEM education research. UWT is a great place to work!
