References on 'teaching abstract models' needed

A colleague in Applied Linguistics that is looking for references on '*teaching abstract models*' to help support a psycholinguistics manuscript. They reached out to our local DBER group, and I figured someone in the CER community might have references to contribute. If you do, please send them to me (jack.barbera@pdx.edu) and I will pass them along. Many thanks!

Summer Undergraduate Research Opportunities in CER

Dear CER Community:

Undergraduate students have asked me to help them find REU summer research programs specifically in chemical education research. I know that CER REU summer programs exist, but I am not familiar with all of the possibilities. I hope that the CER community will direct me to active summer REU CER programs by sending information directly to my email address (GautamB@MissouriState.edu).

THANKS!

Passing of Dave Brooks

Dear community members,

It is with great sadness that I report the death of David Brooks. David was a faculty in the Chemistry Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for many years and engaged in chemical education, especially through the training of K-12 teachers in his later years. He was a strong advocate for instructional technologies. David was an extremely smart individual and was an amazing mentor to all who had the chance to work with him.
